Reading Response for ""Dream Machine"

"Dream Machine" written by Will Wright is, really true to some extent. It is very informative and give an opportunity for other people to really analysis and review there ideas. This article basically talks about video games and how beneficial it is for many children and society. That it is beneficial for people to be creative and allow them to be free to a degree. In this article he compares Hollywood movies to video game.
Watching a movies and video games both come with nasty habits. Rather it be from gorging yourself at the movies, or being addicted to the game and still gorging yourself. All bring good things, what those things are may be very different. Rather it is learning how to accept someone in you neighborhood or it is learning to be more creative.
Video games and movies both can teach somethings that are just not acceptable but in the end it is up to the parents to let there children know that these things are just not okay. And set the first example before they go outside of the home.
Like many children and adults I play video games and I also enjoy a very good movie. All of which, I also learn how to adapt and acknowledge that all things are not under my control and there is only so much that one person can do. I also know that somethings are simple fiction.
It is perfectly to okay to play a video as it is okay to watch a movie. But there needs to be a line that seperates realate from fiction. Most people view video games as a waste of time. Without even taking the time to acknowledge the good that it has. Rather it is creating a family on the Sims or trying to win a race it teaches you a lot of things. How to lose and how to overcome things when obstacles come your way.

  1. Interesting article as most people write about the negative effects of video games. I agree that they can be beneficial, and a form of entertainment. You did well explaining the author's point of view. I would expand more on your point of view. Also, I felt some of the sentences could be combined, possibly?

  2. Seems like an interesting article to read and respond on. I myself am not big on gaming but love movies. It's nice to see a different approach - saying that gaming and movies could have a good influence on people. I too, would have like to hear more about your perspective on the article.

  3. I like the actual argument that this essay is portraying. However, I would have liked to see a more descriptive analysis on your part of this story. What did you think and what messages are being portrayed by the author of this essay? Otherwise, it seems like an interesting article to read and I liked the response.
